| 25 March 2009: Snap-on, brand leader in diagnostic tools, software and information for the automotive market, has announced the release of the new 9.2 software download for its best selling ‘family’ of hand-held diagnostic tools.
“Continued and committed software development ensures that Snap-on customers’ diagnostic tools remain consistently powerful and productive in the workplace,” says Helen Taylor, UK Marketing Manager for Snap-on Diagnostics. “Our new 9.2 software download has significant new and profitable key features to help the workshop technician deal with the sophisticated technology used on today’s modern vehicles.
“Key features for this update include the addition of Hyundai models. This brings the total list of vehicle manufacturers covered to 19. Model year coverage is extended to 2007, with 3,200 vehicle selections now added. 31 new models in total have been added, together with 79 new engine/model combinations. The new 9.2 software also includes an additional 23,000 new trouble codes and descriptions as well as over 800 new functional tests.
“More and more modern vehicles require the use of a diagnostic tool to complete routine maintenance schedules and procedures - even to reset service interval warnings. The 8.4 software takes this into account with added functionality for SIR (service interval reset), plus injector re- programming, brake lining replacement and steering angle sensor resetting following wheel alignment procedures.
“Diagnostic tools are not just for the repair workshop. With modern vehicles incorporating systems such as tyre pressure monitoring, steering angle sensors, air bag arm and dis-arm needs, diagnostic tools are an everyday part of working with modern motor vehicles in bodyshops, fast fit and general service environments. The new 9.2 software has therefore been designed to keep pace with the technology facing the vehicle technician every day.”
The new 9.2 software includes such sophisticated applications as new Xenon light module programming for Ford models and a brake bleed procedure and long coding comfort system for Audi.
The new 9.2 release is available for all models in the Snap-on ‘family’ of hand-held diagnostic tools from the entry level ETHOS, the recently introduced SOLUS PRO, through to the top of the range MODIS diagnostic platform.
